What is a poo knife?

You may have heard "poo knife" or "Shatula" mentioned from families using reusable nappies. So what is it and is it essential?

A Poo Knife is a dedicated knife, palette knife or spatula used for scraping poo off a reusable nappy directly into the toilet bowl for simple clean-ups. This a specific knife or spatula (i'd recommend you label it) that you keep in your bathroom,  perhaps keep in the toilet brush holder. I find that once you start lifting the poo with the spatula it often peels away easily.
