Fleece Liners Overview

Fleece Nappy Liners are one of our customers favourite cloth nappy liners. The Fleece Liners are fabulous at providing an effective stay dry layer as well as a poo catcher for dirty nappies. Our fleece liners are wonderful thick, super soft, quality fleece but at an affordable price. The ultimate comfort for your baby's bottom.

There is no right way up or down with fleece liners you can put them in either way.

Washable nappy liners allow urine to pass through but not come back up therefore helping to keep baby's skin dry.

Some reusable nappies are already fleece lined so you don't need to add a separate fleece liner. If your reusable nappy isn't fleece lined then you can add the Fleece Liners in as a separate liner.

You will need one liner for every reusable nappy that needs one.

Fleece liners are washed with your cloth nappies in the same wash cycle so don't need to be treated any differently.

Read more information about nappy liners in our advice article "Do I need a liner in my reusable nappy?"

Sizing & Pack Sizes

Fleece liners are approx 15x29cm which is a perfect size for one size nappies.

Fleece liners come in packs of 20 but we also split packs into 10s or singly.

Fleece Liner Fabric

100% polyester fleece (similar to fine clothing fleece, not sheep fleece!)

Please Note

We recommend washing (actually we can't stress enough) that fleece nappy liners do need to be prewashed a couple of times, otherwise liquid runs off it rather than through it.

Morag's Story - why I converted to fleece liners

Let me tell you a bit about the event which converted me to fleece liners, having always been pretty sceptical when others raved about them:

I flew to Orkney with my first son, and he did not do his usual morning poo before we left (normally as regular as clockwork), so we had it hanging over us like the Sword of Damocles all morning.  At Gatwick, I changed him again, in case he had sneakily done it en route - no poo.  By the time we got to Aberdeen, he finally decided to perform, at which point I realised I had used my only spare nappy and the rest were on the plane.  The reusable nappy itself had plenty more capacity for wee - the only problem was the dirty liner.  However, luckily I had put on a fleece liner rather than a flushable one. I say 'luckily' because fleece has the following huge advantages:

Large Coverage

Being quite large, reusable nappy liners cover the whole nappy area, and so poo is far less likely to even hit the nappy in the first place (with paper liners, they can tend to move out of the firing line once baby is old enough to wriggle).

No Staining

Being quite thick, a fleece liner helps to prevent staining going through to the nappy once your baby is weaned.  This means that if your child poos in a fresh nappy, you can just replace the fleece. You couldn't really do this with a flushable liner.  Also, this protects the nappy somewhat from the curry stains a pre-weaning breastfed baby is so fond of producing.

Staydry Barrier

Being 100% polyester, reusable liners are completely non-absorbent and does not add any extra absorbency. The nappy liner provides an effective stay-dry layer to protect delicate skin, keep baby feeling dry and helps to prevent nappy rash. Not essential by any means, but parents seem to like it, and it is certainly nice to keep a very wet night nappy at bay.  It also cleans easily and dries immediately, so on our trip to Orkney I was able to drop the poo into the loo, hand wash the fleece and wring it dry then blast it under the hand drier for a few seconds to remove the last of the moisture before putting it back on the nappy for reuse.  Twice, thanks to a repeat performance by Bob!

No Ongoing Costs - Saves Money

Once you have bought them, there are no ongoing liner costs as you have with disposable liners or the hassle of making sure you don't run out.  Poo drops off a fleece liner very easily into the toilet for the most part.  Even relatively squidgy ones will usually drop off if you turn the liner over into an upside down rainbow shape and wiggle your hands a bit.  If the worst comes to the worst, “picking” at one end of the poo with a piece of toilet paper is usually enough to start it peeling itself off (how much detail do you really want on “poo management”?!).  Actually, the easiest thing to do is just to drop the fleece into the loo and leave it for a few minutes.  When you lift it out, most of the poo will have come off anyway - the only risk is, you might forget it's there and flush it away.

Care Instructions

Washing reusable nappy liners is easy. Wash with the rest of your cloth nappies, no need to launder separately. They wash beautifully and stay soft even in hard water areas.

Do not use fabric softener as this will reduce the absorption rate of the nappy liners.

They can be tumble dried but they air dry so quickly there really isn't any need to tumble dry.

Lovely and soft post washing, poo (post weaning) easily drops off into the toilet. No nappy rash unlike disposable liners. You can use nappy cream without worrying that it will go on the nappy.

I used disposable liners for a month and really didn't get along with them, these are really nice and big and catch pretty much all the poo. They're really easy to clean and dry super fast. They wash well and they're also really soft against my babies bum. I honestly couldn't see how they get be any better.

I had seen the advice to buy a fleecy blanket and cut it up and how this might be cheaper. But I didn't feel I had time and I don't regret buying these, though they are no different to the type of fleece you get in a fleece blanket. There is a lot in the box. They work as a stay dry layer.

We'd been using paper liners. Tried these on Nappy Lady's recommendation and they react are superb. They wash beautifully, dry rapidly, fold and stash neatly and perform wonders. They first perfectly in all our various nappies too (Little Lamb shaped, pockets, Motherease Wizards, Baba and Boo, Terry squares and our humungous night nappies!)

Highly recommended. I won't ever be going back to paper liners again. I find these so easy to use and they help out heavy wetter stay dry too.

I love these - I used disposable liners, or no liners at all for my first 2 children, but someone recommended these and they are fab - the poo just falls off into the toilet, they also act as boosters and are much better with nappy rash - perfect for my poor eczema ridden baby!

Great liner
Rating:
14 November 2021  |

I absolutely love these liners. I decided to be more environmentally friendly and stop using throw away liners and go with this reusable liners and haven’t looked back since. These liners are very good at containing poos, are super soft on the bottom and very fast drying. Only downfall is when my daughter has really mushy poo I often need to hold the fleece in the toilet and flush it a few times before most of it is removed. My husband often decides just to wash it out before putting it in the bucket. Nonetheless, I still highly recommend these.

Effective but should have bought less
Rating:
15 August 2021  |

These liners are slim and do seem to work well in protecting the BTP pockets from poo stains and keeping baby drier. They also stay in place well despite being put through their paces with lots of wriggling! I have only ever used these as reusable liners so can’t compare to others in terms of effectiveness but they are certainly great value for money. In hindsight, I wish I’d bought the pack of 10 instead of 20 pack as I never use that many liners before doing my alternate day nappy wash and they feel basically dry when coming out of the washing machine - I’d suggest thinking about how many you realistically need before purchase.

I use one of these with every nappy to help baby feel dry. They are super soft and great for bumping up your order total so you can benefit from free delivery but for what it is it is very overpriced. I feel 50p each would be more reasonable.

Work well but so much bigger than expected
Rating:
28 June 2021  |

We got these for use with our Motherese Bedwetters for overnight use with our son (who is out of nappies in the daytime), as the Bedwetters were causing some irritation of his penis. These seem to have solved the problem, but they are absolutely enormous - they would have been too big in our full time cloth kit, and they only work in the nighttime nappies by looping them around the inner layer. I've given them four stars for this reason as I would have found this handy to know (if the info is online and I missed it then consider my review a 5 star one!). However, still do the job they are here to do, and very well - they are sturdy, and very soft even after lots of washes.

Comfortable dry liner, a bit bobbly after washing
Rating:
25 May 2021  |

Bought these to go inside night nappies (totsbots bamboozle) for extra dryness and comfort and I have not been disappointed so far. I have a BF 4mo at the moment so can’t comment on the liner’s ability to catch and release solid poo, but in a night nappy that’s rarely an issue anyway. The only thing I’ve noticed is that the lovely soft felt bobbles once washed, but I don’t think that’s affected my baby’s comfort at all. And at 89p, who’s arguing?!

These liners are great. A good size so they prevent poo escaping onto the nappy. Weaned poo doesn't stick to them and just flips off into the toilet. Feels good to not create any waste by using disposable liners. Wish I had started using these earlier!

Not good quality
Rating:
12 September 2020  |

I purchased these to use with my son from birth. They started off fine, nice and soft, and they did the job, so they seemed good value, but by the time they had been in use for 10 months or so they started pilling horribly, and covering my entire nappy load with hard little bobbles. I hoped it would stop in time, but this has just continued, and they don't wash as well in a microfibre filter washbag, so I am going to have to replace them all.

Expensive for what they are
Rating:
19 August 2020  |

These liners work really well and are long lasting. However, at £7.99 for a box of 10 they are incredibly expensive for what they are - essentially thin fleece material cut into rectangles. You could easily buy a stretch of fleece fabric online and cut it into rectangles yourself (15cm x 29 cm if you're keen!)

Good solution
Rating:
26 July 2020  |

Being new to nappies I’ve decided to go straight for the fleece liners. I haven’t used paper ones yet. These ones make baby skin feel less wet (not entirely dry).
Often I find the liner not centrally positioned during a change and some of the poops (not solid) on the side of the nappy but I believe this will get better with practice and it’s also somehow normal to move when I adjust the nappy on baby.
It doesn’t need drying time, they come out almost dry from the washing machine. If it still stained after one wash it will come out with the next washing.
