Hemp Reusable Nappies

Hemp is a fabric that has been used in nappies for many years and has had a recent resurgence in popularity through the arrival of the universal hemp bum booster and super absorbent hemp night time nappies such as Nox. Hemp is suitable for use from birth to potty training but is often only needed by the higher wetting capacity of a toddler.

Nox

Nox designed in collaboration between Little Lovebum and The Nappy Lady is the best selling night time hemp nappy. The leg elastics give you excellent containment while the hemp fabric gives you excellent absorbency. Hemp is the core material in Nox, don't be deceived by other nappies on the market that call themselves hemp but in fact hemp is only a tiny proportion of the material.  Hemp will always be blended with cotton or bamboo but we believe hemp should be a significant proportion of the nappy to be called a hemp nappy.

Hemp Bum Booster

The Hemp Bum booster has been the best selling reusable nappy booster on the market for many many years. It's hour glass shape means it can be used with fitted nappies, pocket nappies as well as all in one nappies. Using a hemp bum booster means you can get a little longer between nappy changes which is ideal for car journeys, days out or when you just need a little more absorbency during a growth spurt. 

We'd always encourage you to change your child regularly rather than using boosters to increase nappy wear time but these hemp bum boosters give you that extra when you need it.

Care Instructions

Hemp material contains lots of natural oils so it's important to prewash it before first use. The natural oils will be entirely removed by around wash eight but normally two to three prewashes is enough to get started.  Hemp does go harder with washing as the natural oils are removed but it's important to not add fabric softener as this will reduce and slow absorbency. 

Because hemp is so super absorbent don't forget to do a rinse cycle first before your main wash to ensure your hemp nappy fabric is fully flushed through.

To make your hemp nappies soft again you can tumble dry hemp nappies to soften them if required, just tumble dry on low.
