Modern Cloth Nappies

Modern Cloth Nappies are also known as reusable nappies, washable nappies, cotton nappies, real nappies, terry nappies, fabric nappies but in the end they all mean the same thing. A cloth nappy is a nappy (or diaper) that you reuse rather than throw away after a single use which is what disposable nappies are. Are cloth nappies more expensive? There is a larger upfront cost with cloth nappies whereas each disposable nappy sells for just a few pence. However once you have your cloth nappies you won't need to buy more, my own I bought when i was pregnant with our first child and we went onto reuse them on all three children.

Cloth Nappy Sizes

You can either buy cloth nappies in a onesize that fits almost birth to potty training or a few brands make sized nappies so you have the perfect, slim fit whatever age or weight your baby is. A disposable nappy comes in different sizes and weight range to modern reusable nappies.

Parts of a cloth nappy system.

There are four main parts. Starting from the outside in there is a waterproof  nappy wrap or sometimes called a nappy cover, the absorbent nappy itself, a nappy booster is used in night time nappies and finally a nappy liner. Nappy liners can be reusable fleece liners or disposable paper liner. Most brands make all parts of your nappy system.

There are fitted nappies, pocket nappies, all in one nappies, flat nappies.  Most cloth nappy brands make every type of nappy system.
