Bedwetter Overview

Mother-ease Bedwetter Pants heavy duty pull on pants ideal for night time.

The dense cotton inner is incredibly absorbent holding approx 625ml which gives enough absorbency for even the heaviest of wetters.

Bedwetter pants are designed for children approx 3 years plus who still require a night nappy, but want the personal control of a pull up style nappy.

A Bedwetter pant is very expensive but so is the ongoing cost of high absorbency night time disposable nappies. The large weight range of the Bedwetter pants generally means you only need to buy one size.   They also sell on well on the second hand market.

Our experience is that these pants either work extremely well, or not at all. They do seem to be quite shape-dependent. So always prewash and use only one, until you are happy that it is right for you, before washing any others.  It should also be noted that they really do need two or three pre-washes before they get really absorbent.

Bed Wetter Pants Sizing

XSmall

  • Weight 30-40lbs
  • Waist 15-21inches
  • Leg 10-13inches

Small

  • Weight 40-55lbs
  • Waist 16-23 inches
  • Leg 12-16 inches

Medium

  • Weight 55-65lbs
  • Waist 19-26inches
  • Leg 13-17inches

How do I use it?

Motherease Bedwetter pants will need at least 3 pre-washes before they reach full absorbency. There is no need to dry inbetween these washes.

Mother-ease bedwetters do not require any additional parts to be used but you can add a liner if you require.  Often parents choose not to add a liner so that the child feels wetter in the pants to help aide potty training.

The Mother-ease bedwetters are slow to dry due to their ultra high absorbency. To speed drying, part of the inside is a soaker panel attached at the ends only to help increase surface area. Hang the pants with the soaking panel hanging loose.

Is your child ready for potty training? Read our guide "potty training in cloth nappies."

Manufacturers Bedwetters Washing Guide

Each morning:

  • Turn used pant inside out and rinse the concentrated urine out of your Bedwetter Pant - can be sluiced down the toilet, in the sink or on a rinse cycle in your washing machine
  • Wring excess water out of pant.
  • Store your rinsed Bedwetter Pant inside your nappy bucket or bag until wash day
  • Wash on a long 40/60deg cotton wash.
  • Ideally air dry but can be tumble dried on low.

Note – Do not store your Bedwetter Pants for more than 2 days without washing. Odors can develop if they are left too long without washing

Bedwetter Fabric

Waterproof outer - 100% polyester PUL in the same fabric as the Mother-ease wraps.

Inner absorbency- dense 85% cotton inner, 15% polyester

Mother-ease's natural fabrics contain a small percentage of polyester in the core of the fabric and this polyester never touches your babies delicate skin. Mother ease's fabrics are custom knit specifically for them and include a poly core for shrinkage control + durability - as a natural fabric that has to endure this many washes would wear out too quickly using only 100% cotton.

Pop Pop Charity Print

The Nappy Lady website is 20 years old on the 30th November 2019 and to celebrate we have worked with Mother-ease to create this beautiful special edition print.  There is a very personal story behind this nappy which I'd like to share with you.

Wendy & Pop Pop
The Pop Pop Mother-ease print has been named in memory of my Dad, affectionately known as “Pop Pop” to his three Grandchildren.  When I was a young child I heard my Dad call his Dad Pop so I repeated it as Pop Pop and it stuck forever more.  When I had my own children children my Dad of course wanted to be a Pop Pop too!   Even when my eldest got older Dad told him you call me Grandad now if you want but nope it was Pop Pop forever!

Dad was a generous and hardworking man who had a lifelong passion for motorbikes. When he wasn’t at work, he was always found in his shed tinkering about with his beloved classic bikes. What Dad didn’t know about a motorbike wasn’t worth knowing. Growing up there were always people stopping by for his expert help. I had no interest in motorbikes so other than knowing what BSA stands for, I’m no help with your motorbike problems, nappy questions on the other hand I’m your lady! Dad always dreamed of running his own motorbike shop but unfortunately this never happened, so he was delighted in my development of The Nappy Lady.

Dad was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2014 and underwent aggressive and life changing treatment. He bravely faced each stage and he never gave up hope of a recovery. In 2017 the cancer was back and had spread. After a critical infection he was referred to his local hospice St Raphael’s and was given 48 hours to live. The care St Raphael’s gave him was faultless and for the first time in years his pain was kept under control. Those 48 hours came and went and three weeks later he was discharged. Dad remained under St Raphael’s community care for another six months until he finally lost his battle in early 2018.

Throughout his life Dad loved supporting a variety of charities and arranged fundraising events with his motorbike club.  November 2019 was The Nappy Lady’s 20th Anniversary and to celebrate we worked with Mother-ease to create our Pop Pop charity print.  £3 from every Pop Pop Bedwetter is donated to St Raphaels Hospice and we are working towards reaching £30,000 fund raising. Current in April 2021 we are just over halfway at £17,000. You can follow our fundraising journey at Just Giving here.

Mother-ease Care Guide

Initial Wash

  • Add no more than 10-12 nappies to your washer & dryer in each initial wash. Remember to check your lint screen before each wash & dry.
  • Set your washing machine to a full wash cycle with a large size load for 10-12 nappies (smaller if less nappies). Use only HOT water.
  • Add your detergent - see detergent disclaimer.
  • Line dry or machine dry the diapers on a medium heat setting.

Regular washing

  • Be sure to wash your cloth nappies at least every other day. If the soiled nappies are stored longer, run them through the initial rinse cycle and toss back into your nappy pail. (Tip - you can add 1/2 oz of laundry detergent to the rinse cycle to start cleaning sooner.)
  • Use your washing machines normal wash cycle and set the water temperature to hot. Use a large load size (for 12-18 soiled nappies + covers) and add the detergent manufacturers recommended amount of detergent. Then let the machine take care of the rest!  (Tip - running the diapers through an extra rinse creates unnecessary wear and over the 2 1/2 years of use, you will reduce the longevity of your diapers). (Tip 2 - Select your washing machines Sanitary Cycle for even hotter water if you can.)
  • Once your nappies have finished the wash cycle, it's time to dry them. You can either line or machine dry them;

Line Drying - hang to dry in your basement or outside on the line. (Tip - Sun naturally removes stains. Even works on a cold, winters day as long as the sun is out

Machine Drying - Toss in your dryer on medium heat (low for covers). (Tip - Tossing line dried diapers into your dryer for a short cycle will fluff them up but tumbling action adds additional wear)

*Coloured diapers may bleed and should be washed accordingly

Mother-ease offers a 6-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship on our:

Please contact us if you think you have a faulty product and need to claim under the Mother-ease warranty. We will liaise with Mother-ease for you. Mother-ease will require any product to be returned or destroyed before a replacement.

The manufacturer may ask for proof of which detergent you have been using during the period you've had the item so we strongly recommend you keep your receipts you can prove you've been washing following the supplier's guidelines.  A photo of the detergent box and a photo of the detergent ingredients will be needed plus receipts of detergent purchases in the time you have owned the faulty nappies (usually 1 or 2 receipts showing purchases across the previous 6 months).  If you have bought Mother-ease's detergent through us during the time you've used the nappies please let us know and we'll have all your receipts already on record for you.

Mother-ease decision on any warranty claim is final.

These really work!
Rating:
12 December 2024  |

Tried one of these for our six year old who’s showing no sign of stopping wetting the bed. It really worked! No leakages. So bought another two. So much better than having to buy disposables every week and then to have to throw them in the bin after one use. Just wished we found these sooner! Could have saved ourselves a fortune (and the planet from a load of unnecessary waste). Definitely recommend

My daughter is 2.5 and her night time nappies were starting to leak and pinch around her legs but she’s nowhere near able to last the night. These pants are amazing, easy to pull on, really soft and comfy and able to hold multiple wees. She’s at the lower end of the weight guide as well so it’s nice to know these will last us a while

I bought the extra small size for my day trained 3yo who is low in the size range. He hardly ever wakes up for wees overnight and drinks a lot of water in bed, but we've had no leaks! I'm very impressed, they were absolutely worth the cost.

I’ve put them on my son for two nights and both nights he’s soaked his bed, pulling them off as they are so bulky, heavy and uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend them for anyone’s little one who no longer wants to wear nappies but still wets the bed.

Causes rash and soreness
Rating:
18 July 2024  |

I really wanted to like these nappies but I’ve experienced three issues with them:
Firstly the inside seems really bothered my little one in the beginning, they would leave deep dark red marks on her hips and she complained they hurt. It got a little better with time/washing but we had to stop using two out five nappies because they kept hurting her too much.
Secondly for the first approx 4 months of use, my little one would get a very red, sore and itchy nappy rash all over her butt cheeks. All of a sudden it stopped, and then I noticed someone else mentioned the same issue on their reviews, so there must be something chemical in the nappies from new that washes out over the time and stops irritating.
Lastly her pyjamas would stink of wee after just one night of wear. I feel like the outer material just isn’t waterproof enough, not like say the mother-ease wraps are, which we used when she was younger.
I’ve now tried the Kijanis instead and I must say I’m much more pleased with the performance!

Well made soft night pants, both me and my toddler loved it. Prints are beautiful!

Seems to be pretty comfortable and suitable for heavy wetter. No leaks and washes well. The only thing is that I’m afraid my girl will grow out of it quickly.

Great Nappy

10 November 2023  |

We've used cloth nappies since birth. My 4yr old has been dry in the day for 2 years but is showing no signs of being ready for nighttime dryness. I was really starting to worry we'd have to use disposable pull ups, but then I found these.
They are super absorbent, easily hold at least one full wee if not more. No more bulky than our previous two part nappies. These are designed for older children and the weights reflect that so XS is your average 3yr old. We've just moved up to a small at 4.5

I honestly cannot recommend these enough! If I had to have a criticism it would be that you can't get the full range of fabulous Motherease prints!

Leak proof success!
Rating:
01 February 2023  |

I’m a newbie to cloth diapers, and was desperately looking for an overnight leak proof solution for my 20 month boy. When we were using disposable diapers, we tried everything, from upsizing, to booster pads…. He would still leak in the middle of the night at least a couple times a week. This disrupted his sleep. I was recommended to try motherease bedwetter pants and I took a leap of faith. I’m happy to report that we’ve been using it for almost 2 weeks now with zero leaks! And OMG the prints are just so cute! My son loves them!

Love them but bad skin reaction at first

13 November 2022  |

These are really good night nappies for bigger children. My 3 year old has outgrown size 3 little lambs and now she's in bedwetters and they're great. The only thing is I think there is some irritating manufacturing residue or something because the first night she wore it she looked like her whole nappy area was covered in bad sunburn the next day. We washed the nappy 3 more times and it was fine after that. Also I picked medium based on taking her measurements, but actually even the smalls turned out big on her so I would recommend getting 1 size smaller than you think you need otherwise they do leak at the legs.

A good option
Rating:
09 November 2022  |

We began using these a month ago for our 4 year old at night. We were excited to find a pull up option and having loved motherease products we thought it would be worth a try. Overall they have been good. A bit bulky, but that’s to be expected for a night nappy. Generally reliable - although we have had a couple of leaks. My son can put them on himself, (but a team effort is best as the lining tends to ruffle up if not careful) and once wet he can’t get them off himself. The material is soft and pattern appealing, and as an autonomous 4 year old he definitely prefers to step into night pants rather than the rigmarole of 2 part night nappies.

Helped successfully my 4 year old learn to be dry at night

12 October 2022  |

Bought to help my 4 year old learn to be dry at night after reading tips online. Needed something so she'd feel she was wet after doing a wee at night and wake up, but still wouldn't soak the bed. Worked really well, and helped her learn to stay dry in a few weeks.

Positive is that they didn't leak but caused a burn rash on my son due to slow absorbtion of urine on his skin causing serious soreness. Followed all care directions before use. After spending significant amount of money on the items this is disappointing.

Good for chunky toddlers
Rating:
25 May 2022  |

I'd read that these either work wonderfully or not at all, but it wasn't clear what body type would usually equal success. We have a 99th centile almost 3 year old and they're working wonderfully.

He can push them up and down himself when dry but struggles if they're wet because they stick to his legs.

They are very slow to dry so you'll need enough in your rotation to allow for 2 days drying time at least, and you'll definitely want to turn them inside out for washing and drying.

The only downside is the inner attached booster is a bit tricky to get to lie flat so it's often a but bunched up. Our littlun has never complained they're uncomfortable though.

MotherEase Bedwetter Pants
Rating:
09 May 2022  |

These are fantastic for my tall, thin 4 year old (size Small) - I bought 4 pairs so they have time to dry and we have had no leaks overnight, unlike the resuable nappies were starting to do. I was glad I had read the Reviews and took the small size as they are definitely a better fit.

Fantastic but bulky
Rating:
10 March 2022  |

These are exactly what I needed for my 3.5yo who is toilet trained but still wets in the night. He has sensitive/eczema prone skin and was reacting to disposable nappies. Since using these, his skin is healing and we are definitely changing his sheets less. There was a phase I was having to change the sheets everyday, but since we swapped to these it's only been one extra time. They are really absorbant and true to size. They wash and dry well but you need a few as they can take a while to dry (we tumble dry so not such an issue). The designs are lovely, although I wish there was more choice (possibly more plain colours?).They are very bulky, but this is a trade off for their absorbancy. Slimfit pjs are a no go with these. Standard fit in a size up works well to give the nappy enough space. They aren't cheap but they do the job and we'll save a considerable amount on disposable ls since he's not showing any signs yet of being dry at night.

Brilliant
Rating:
18 February 2022  |

Good absorbency, fun print, easy for my son to pull up and down as he needs to. Beware the sizing - I originally bought the medium as my son’s measurements fitted comfortably into the medium bracket. When it arrived though it was huge on him, given that he’s very tall and slim for his weight. It seemed very heavy around his slim waist and it was obvious that the moment it got wet it would start to fall down, in the absence of a slightly tighter fit round the waist. I gave the nappy lady a ring for some advice and was reassured it was worth trying it in the small, which I did on exchange, and the small is perfect. So if your little person is tall and slim it’d be worth sizing down. If you can get the sizing right it’s brilliant!

Worked a dream
Rating:
01 February 2022  |

After months of bed wetting we were desperate but didn’t want to return to nappies as that felt a backward step. These have been perfect. They are basically a washable version of pull-ups. She can push them up & down so can still use the potty, although this is harder when they’re full of wee of course. We call them her “special dinosaur knickers” and she hasn’t clocked that they are actually nappies. I got the smallest size for my slim 2.5yr old & they’re still very bulky, but I guess that’s necessary for heavier wetters/older kids. Only downside is there’s no label / bow to help kids learn which is the front vs back for independently putting them on; but we just sewed a label in to help with that. All in all a great purchase- everyone now gets a good night sleep!

Bulky but they work

19 December 2021  |

Bought these when my son outgrew his L Sandys and XL airflow combo. My son loves that they’re pull ups and I’m happy because we haven’t had any leaks.
They’re pretty bulky though so look a bit crazy under PJs and take an age to dry. A friend gave me a tip to turn them inside out and hang by the loose fabric layer from a soctopus, which has definitely helped.

Hesitated getting these for a while due to the price and worries about sizing correctly. Wish I bought them 2 years ago. Excellent product for tall and lean heavy wetting 6yr old (size small). Great name, and my daughter absolutely loves the different styles. We have 3 and that seems sufficient. They've leaked once or twice when we've forgotten to do 'last wee of the day', but work really well if we ensure she's gone to the toilet before bed. They're also encouraging her to be dry at night by giving her proper feedback, unlike disposable nappies.

Bought these for my slim but tall 2 yr old, and he is very excited at bedtime to put in his special big boy nappy pants because of the lovely prints! We’ve been using for around a month and have had no leaks however they are very very bulky on him even compared to his previously triple boosted night nappy, which makes it quite awkward to fit his pyjamas over the top (pyjamas are now a bit stretched/misshapen as a result).

Fantastic pants for my 6 year old
Rating:
03 October 2021  |

Was nervous about paying so much for these after thinking we were done with washable nappies a few years ago. My 6.5 year old is showing no signs of being dry at night and I was sick of the pull up disposables which sometimes leaked and frustrated to still be using them. SO glad to give these a try as they work well. They are bulky but they do the job. I have bought 5 pairs in small size with different patterns which is enough for us. I put them on a rinse cycle then wash with other clothes. They dry well in the airing cupboard. Really pleased with them. Definitely recommend to others in the same situation. Very few options available for 6 year olds - we tried another bed pant from another supplier but it leaked so sticking with Motherease.

26 August 2021  |

My 2yo has started potty training and does not want nappies anymore but still wees a lot at night so we bought these and told him they were special bedtime pants. He loves them. I wasn’t sure about the sizing as he’s very skinny but they fit him well and no leaks so far (we’re about 3 weeks in). As I’m still washing nappies for my 8 months old, these are super easy to wash as they just go in the nappy bucket with the rest. The only drawback, which is why I have given 4 stars is the material inside. The sewn in insert is far too big and so it’s hard to get flat while putting the pants on so it just bunches and as it’s bamboo, it’s a bit rough on his bottom. With his regular night nappies, we used a fleecy liner but it’s tricky getting one of these in the pants due to the bunching of the insert. A small design change such as a smaller insert, maybe poppered in and a micro fibre or fleece lining built in then they would be perfect

23 May 2021  |

I can’t comment on the effectiveness of these but only on the sizing. Definitely go smaller if you are unsure. The size small was far too big for my slim 3yo. I just couldn’t believe that at that age she would be xs in anything and was borderline between the two weight categories. As others have said, they are bulky but I wouldn’t say it looked too much more bulky than our normal nighttime nappy. I returned and will try a smaller size

These are designed for post potty training so most babies won't need them before age 3.

Great for autonomy, bit less secure on, and need bigger PJs
Rating:
19 May 2021  |

For my slender just 3 year old who's not dry at night yet, the colour rainbow print was a big hit, and he really likes that he can pop to the potty and pull them down himself. However, they're definitely puffier than the Toddlease or Bamboozle size 3 + XL wrap alternatives - no chance of getting away with slender fit M&S PJs or any of his old age 2-3 stuff. They're a little looser on him too - but no leaks so far. Keeping in the stash as and option for him, but found myself buying a couple of extra nappies (as above) instead of more of these...

Excellent solution for older children
Rating:
02 May 2021  |

I have a nearly five year old who infrequently wets at night. These allow her to pull the nappy up and down for night-time/first thing in the morning wees so she feels in control. The patterns and design are like regular pants, so she doesn't feel babyish. I love the absorbency (older kids, bigger wees) and the softness of the lining. The one thing to bear in mind is that the extra layers are sewn in and do take a long time to dry, so have enough for your needs if you don't own/want to to tumble dry.

These work. I initially baulked at the cost of these and was put off by how huge they are, but after trying two other night pant options that didn’t work, we’ve had no leaks with these. I should have known and trusted Mother Ease in the first place.

The small comfortably fits my 17kilo 3.5year old and I expect he won’t grow out of them before he no longer needs them. He likes the balloons and dinosaurs on them and says they’re comfy. They take a long time to dry but we have three in rotation which seems to work.

In the immortal words of Regina George, these are the ugliest effing nappies I have ever seen. Absolutely enormous, hideous prints (didn't want to get plain white as our regular cloth nappies are plain white), take nine million years to dry...

However... they work. Our nearly-three-year-old is a champion pee-er at naptime (mainly because 60% of his daily fluid intake happens directly before it) and oh boy, these nappies can hold it. Astounding. I have such confidence in them that we might even use them at nighttime, and I truly never thought I'd use cloth at night!

We ordered XS and S to try on and XS fits him. He says they are very comfortable (and likes the barfalicious unicorn print he chose) and they certainly seem very soft to him. It's not like he's walking around in them anyway, and he can just about push them down by himself. However, I have found that you do need to be careful about tucking all the fluffy absorbent layers inside so I wouldn't trust him to pull them up properly.

I dearly wish that the manufacturer would do these in just some plain colours. They also have two layers of absorbent material: one which is attached to the outside all the way round, and one which is attached just at the front and back. I wish they would unravel a bit more for drying, like our Totsbots all in ones. I am thinking of unpicking one end of the inner layer and putting poppers on it so it's easier to hang and dries quicker.

These are super duper expensive. Given that we are using Aldi disposables before, I reckon we'll just about break even on them (as I expect to be using them for a while). However, we plan to use them for our second (and any subsequent!) child too, so cost-wise it should work out in the long run. People are selling these second hand for almost as much as they cost new.

Having used cloth nappies until my boy turned three i was so disappointed to think he may have to continue with overnight disposables. A friend suggested these. They are fantastic. He isn’t showing any signs yet of holding it overnight and there was no leaking. Expensive initially but I would imagine I will save a lot of money in the long run.

My two year old is potty trained during the day but still quite wet at night tho he started requesting to use the toilet after his night time nappy had been put on. This was becoming a faff to take on and off as it was a two part system. I needed an alternative that pulled up and down easily but was still absorbant enough for over night. Bedwetters have been amazing and we haven't had a single leak!

These are amazing. My son is just over 2 and is out of day nappies. He loves his nighttime Dino pants and they are so much more comfortable around the waist than nappies.
No leaks

I love the fact that there’s lots of padding in to absorb but it’s far too bulky!

I bought these to replace disposable night time nappies. My daughter has autism and likely to need them for a long time so I wanted to save money in the long run and be environmentally friendly. I love this product because they are very pretty, very soft and comfy and no night time leaks.

A fuss-free nighttime nappy

Even though these are sold as toddler nighttime training pants, I have found them to be an excellent option for a nighttime nappy! They are super absorbent and so easy to put on. I love them as it means I can still cloth my daughter at night but without the hassle of trying to put a night nappy and wrap on her. It works out a similar price too when you factor in how much you would pay for a fitted nappy and wrap! I bought the XS for my 13 month old (who is 75th centile) and it fits perfectly. No leaks and that was after only one pre-wash, absolutely amazing! The only thing I would caution for is checking the nappy in the morning and being careful when pulling it down if there are any deposits, otherwise you might get a shock and a baby that has pooey legs!! But otherwise, would highly recommend these nappies, will be purchasing more as soon as I can!

Using this on our asd 5 year old who produces a huge amount of pee at night. After washing a couple of times as suggested the absorbancy is brilliant, one of the only things like this I've tried that doesn't leak.
My only issue with it is the seams rub on his hips and under his legs so trying to solve that currently with some fleece under it.

Bought these as advised by a friend so my toddler could pull his nappy up and down to also use the potty if needed in the night/morning. They fit really well and I've not had any leaks, which was always nightly with disposables. Expensive but worth it!

Toddler night pants

I’d read a lot about these and had been waiting for stock to come in, worth the wait! I measured my daughter and ordered according to the measurements, when I first tried on the small (she’s 3, average build and quite tall) they seemed huge but as I had a pair of used pants in small which did fit I figured they must shrink a bit when washed. After 3-4 washes to prep them the fit is good. We have had no leaks even though they aren’t tight. She can pull them up and down if she wants to use the potty in the night although when they are full of wee come morning they are a bit more of a challenge! Wash and tumble-dry easily, highly rate these

I bought these for my 7 year old after hoping for years she would become dry at night. She is slim and tall and these fit her well. She loves the dinosaur design. They absorb very well but of course the thickness of the liner and the absorption level mean cleaning and drying them to use again takes a long time, as expected.
These are perfect for my needs and I would definitely buy again and recommend.
