Nappy Overview

Disana knitted tie on nappy is a budget friendly onesize nappy made from organic cotton. The Disana tie on nappy is very popular for families who are looking for an entirely natural system as the system does not use velcro, plastic poppers or plastic nappi nippas to secure it. Combined with a Disana wool cover over the top every part is a natural polyester free fibre.

Disana tie on nappy is low absorbency on it's own but as baby grows you can just add generic boosters into the nappy to increase to the level of absorbency your baby needs.  The Little Lambs bamboo inserts or hemp boosters  which are both universal boosters.

Sizing

The length of the nappy is altered by folding down the back of the nappy to make it shorter.

How do I use it?

Disana tie on nappy fastens using tie on cords rather than velcro or poppers.  Tying the nappy can be tricky and takes some practice.  We have had some parents who have told us they actually cut off the long cords and secured the nappy with a nappi nippa instead to increase speed of nappy changes.  This could lead to pulls on the nappy fabric but is worth a try if you're getting tied up with it!  The ties must be secured before washing otherwise you'll have a lot of knots to deal with after washing!

The nappy can be washed up to 60deg. Disana tie on nappy air dries quickly as it opens out but can be tumble dried if required.

Great overall

These tie-on nappies are great for using under the woollen nappy cover by Disana. They are easy to tie and can adjust to your baby as they grow. A classic design, easier than the J-fold muslin nappies (at least for a wriggly newborn) and they stay on easier and are less bulky too. My mum used the same with me when I was a baby!

I'm currently pregnant with my 3rd baby and wanted entirely natural products after having lots of sensitivities to unnatural products with my second. This was after successfully using miosolos with my first. I think a lot was to do with the fact the skin couldn't breathe and his skin so desperately needed that. Anyway I did lots of research and bought these tie on nappies with the disana brushed cotton insert. I've also purchased some thirties organic cotton doublers and a few hemp boosters. So whilst my new baby isn't here just yet I decided to try these nappies on was my 2nd child, the reason I opted for this system for the new baby. His skin is still incredibly sensitive and once he was potty trained we actually ended up moving to an eco disposable for overnight. He is almost 4 and very tall. I can no longer get a blueberry coverall around him. For him I used the tie on nappy, two boosters one organic cotton doubler and one hemp and the disana brushed cotton liner. I also bought him a pair of disana wool pants to go over the top in age 3-5. I have only one word for this system and its amazing! We have no leaks whatsoever (and we were from the disposables). His skin has never been better, sometimes when I go to bed he has wet and if I feel inside his wool pants it's soaking wet with urine, yet nothing is leaking out. By the morning the nappy no longer feels so wet, more damp because the moisture has been able to evaporate, which I think is one of the main reasons his skin is so much happier. There is literally not one part of me that worries about these being a problem for a younger child. They really are a true birth to potty nappy if you get your boosting right, they will fit my almost 4yo for a long while yet, hopefully until he becomes dry overnight. They are bulky, especially with the wool pants, but the comfort to a child beats that for me. I can't rate them highly enough

Disana tie on nappies

I bought these after trying a few products from Disana. We generally use flat nappies and wraps so wanted to give these a try. They are lovely and soft, beautifully packaged and excellent value for money. We use the during the day with a bamboo booster and with the Disana brushed cotton insert and a hemp booster for the night. The seem so comfortable and I like that they’re organic and breathable. It took a few go’s to get used to the wrapping but found a YouTube video that helped. I would definitely recommend giving these a try.

Not for everyone

I like this type of diaperring system, it works a lot like fitted diapers but requires tying. It's both absorbent and breathable, I gave it 4 stars even though I use them a lot because it's not for everyone

Brilliant nappy

Bit fiddly when you have a wriggly one and bulky if ussd in daytime but so soft, breathable and comfy. Very absorbant (used as the full system overnight with insert and woolen cover). Totally size adjustable and excellent price. Not recommended for day care or quick changes but for a comfy, cool or warm nappy depending on the weather that is very breathable, it is perfect.

Works fine for smaller children

I got the Disana wool nappies as a pack including these tie nappies, fleecy cotton flats which you use as boosters, and the wool cover. I got them because my daughter had an extreme case of nappy rash that just wouldn't go away - but healed after two days in wool!

They worked extremely well for us until my daughter turned 13 months and became a heavy wetter over night.

Tying the nappy is a bit of a learning curve, as you have to cross the ties at the back, and bring them back around the front - 18th century style, they are even depicted in the works of Wilhelm Busch! But they give a nice tight fit around the legs, are quite trim, and the knit cotton is flexible and soft.

Our oldest has now out-peed them, but number two will be along in just a few months, and they'll see more use, then!
