Wizard Duo All In Two Nappy System

Wizard Duo wraps are for use ONLY with the Wizard Duo inserts. The inserts are purchased separately.

Wizard Duo is the revolutionary all in two nappy system from Mother-ease.

The Wizard Duo is a slim nappy consisting of two parts

  1. The Wizard Duo nappy insert
  2. The Wizard Duo covers

The Wizard Duo absorbent nappy insert poppers in and out of the Wizard Duo waterproof cover to make a nappy that goes on in one simple step.  The Wizard Duo inserts all give full width coverage and will not bunch.

Unlike other all in two nappies there is elastic all the way round the nappy insert This ensures you get the same excellent containment as you do from a two part nappy system but with the convenience of a one layer system.

The Wizard Duo Wraps fastens with poppers and are adjusted in waist and length through a series of poppers. Unlike many other brands of wraps the Motherease Duo wraps have double elastication at the waist front and back giving you excellent containment and fit.

The Wizard Duo is very similar to the all in one Wizard Uno except the Wizard Duo is better for longevity

How many Wizard Duo inserts and covers do I need?

As a guide you will need 1 Duo Wrap for every 4 Duo inserts.

A full time set would be 20 inserts with 5 covers.

We sell the Wizard Duo inserts and wraps singly so you can make your own perfect Wizard Duo nappy system. We also make our Nappy Lady Perfectly Balanced Wizard Duo nappy kits if you're prefer a quick one click purchase of everything you need.

Which Size Duo?

The Motherease Wizard Duo Wraps come in four sizes:

  • Onesize 10-35lbs - Most Popular

One size wrap covers the biggest weight range making them the most cost effective. Each wrap will get more wear and tear due to the amount of use over the large weight range. The wraps may need replacing for subsequent children. The Duo wrap length is adjusted by a series of poppers on the front of the wrap to make it shorter

  • XS (newborn) 6 -12lbs

The Newborn Wizard Duo will give your newborn baby the most comfortable and trim fit upto 12lbs. The perfect reusable nappy option for those teeny tiny newborn babies. No poppers needed to adjust the length on this size.

  • Small 8-18lb

The Small Wizard Duo provides the best fit up to 18lbs and is the best starting point for the majority of babies that are already around the 8 lb mark at birth. Starting with the Small before moving to the One Size will give you a nice trim fitting cloth nappy up to 18 lbs.  The Duo wrap length is adjusted by a series of poppers on the front of the wrap to make it shorter

  • XLarge 35lbs-45lbs

Perfect for larger babies. No poppers needed to adjust the length on this size wrap.

How do I use it?

This is the Nappy Lady method of making all in two nappy changes swift and efficient

  • Put baby in a clean Wizard Duo (cover and insert attached inside)
  • At the same time make a spare Wizard Duo set up and left on the changing table (cover and clean insert inside)
  • At the next nappy change time take the entire Wizard Duo cover and wrap off and set aside
  • Put baby in the clean spare set you made up earlier
  • Put baby somewhere safe or toddler is off to play
  • Now take out the soiled insert from the original cover and store in the nappy bucket
  • Put a clean insert back in this prevously worn wrap and this is now your spare set for next nappy change
  • Repeat this cycle of switching between wraps throughout the day.
  • Change and wash Wizard Duo wraps after 4 wears each wrap or if a wrap becomes soiled.

Make sure you watch our demo video above on how to use the system and rotate your wraps for ease of use.

Care of Mother-Ease Wraps

The binding on the Mother-ease wraps are the reason they are so fabulously waterproof so it's important to treat the binding with respect and make sure it can't get caught on velcro etc in the wash.

When washing your Mother-ease wraps place them in a mesh washing bag separate from anything that could catch on the binding like Velcro to keep them in excellent and reliable condition.

Mother-ease have very specific washing detergent requirements please read our washing page so you're aware of the requirements. This usually means that the wraps have to be washed separately to your nappies.

Wraps rarely need to be tumble dried as they air dry so fast however they can occassionally be tumble dried on low in an emergency.

POP POP Charity Print

The Nappy Lady website is 20 years old on the 30th November 2019 and to celebrate we have worked with Mother-ease to create this beautiful special edition print.  There is a very personal story behind this nappy which I'd like to share with you.
Wendy & Pop Pop
The Pop Pop Mother-ease print has been named in memory of my Dad, affectionately known as “Pop Pop” to his three Grandchildren.  When I was a young child I heard my Dad call his Dad Pop so I repeated it as Pop Pop and it stuck forever more.  When I had my own children children my Dad of course wanted to be a Pop Pop too!   Even when my eldest got older Dad told him you call me Grandad now if you want but nope it was Pop Pop forever!

Dad was a generous and hardworking man who had a lifelong passion for motorbikes. When he wasn’t at work, he was always found in his shed tinkering about with his beloved classic bikes. What Dad didn’t know about a motorbike wasn’t worth knowing. Growing up there were always people stopping by for his expert help. I had no interest in motorbikes so other than knowing what BSA stands for, I’m no help with your motorbike problems, nappy questions on the other hand I’m your lady! Dad always dreamed of running his own motorbike shop but unfortunately this never happened, so he was delighted in my development of The Nappy Lady.

Dad was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2014 and underwent aggressive and life changing treatment. He bravely faced each stage and he never gave up hope of a recovery. In 2017 the cancer was back and had spread. After a critical infection he was referred to his local hospice St Raphael’s and was given 48 hours to live. The care St Raphael’s gave him was faultless and for the first time in years his pain was kept under control. Those 48 hours came and went and three weeks later he was discharged. Dad remained under St Raphael’s community care for another six months until he finally lost his battle in early 2018.

Throughout his life Dad loved supporting a variety of charities and arranged fundraising events with his motorbike club.  November 2019 was The Nappy Lady’s 20th Anniversary and to celebrate we worked with Mother-ease to create our Pop Pop charity print.  £3 from every Wizard Duo Pop Pop wrap is donated to St Raphaels Hospice and we are working towards reaching £30,000 fund raising. Current in April 2021 we are just over halfway at £17,000. You can follow our fundraising journey at Just Giving here.

Mother-ease Care Guide

Initial Wash

  • Add no more than 10-12 nappies to your washer & dryer in each initial wash. Remember to check your lint screen before each wash & dry.
  • Set your washing machine to a full wash cycle with a large size load for 10-12 nappies (smaller if less nappies). Use only HOT water.
  • Add your detergent - see detergent disclaimer.
  • Line dry or machine dry the diapers on a medium heat setting.

Regular washing

  • Be sure to wash your cloth nappies at least every other day. If the soiled nappies are stored longer, run them through the initial rinse cycle and toss back into your nappy pail. (Tip - you can add 1/2 oz of laundry detergent to the rinse cycle to start cleaning sooner.)
  • Use your washing machines normal wash cycle and set the water temperature to hot. Use a large load size (for 12-18 soiled nappies + covers) and add the detergent manufacturers recommended amount of detergent. Then let the machine take care of the rest!  (Tip - running the diapers through an extra rinse creates unnecessary wear and over the 2 1/2 years of use, you will reduce the longevity of your diapers). (Tip 2 - Select your washing machines Sanitary Cycle for even hotter water if you can.)
  • Once your nappies have finished the wash cycle, it's time to dry them. You can either line or machine dry them;

Line Drying - hang to dry in your basement or outside on the line. (Tip - Sun naturally removes stains. Even works on a cold, winters day as long as the sun is out

Machine Drying - Toss in your dryer on medium heat (low for covers). (Tip - Tossing line dried diapers into your dryer for a short cycle will fluff them up but tumbling action adds additional wear)

*Coloured diapers may bleed and should be washed accordingly

Mother-ease Warranty

Mother-ease offers a lifetime warranty on our Snaps and Elastics.
This warranty is for the reasonable lifetime of the diaper. This does not cover slight relaxing of elastics.

Mother-ease offers a 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship on our:
Sandys,  Fitted Diapers, One Size Fitted Diapers, Wizard Duo Inserts, Reusable Nursing Pads, Baby Wipes, Absorbent Liners and Wizard Boosters.

This covers product stitching, seams and fabric holes discovered immediately upon receipt of item. This does not include normal wear and tear, slight variances in snap placement, odour issues, pilling, leaks, staining, repelling and holes or tears in the fabric or loose stitching due to wash routine or regular use.

Mother-ease offers a 6-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship on our:
Diaper covers, Wizard Uno's, Big Kid Training Pants and Bedwetter Pants.

This covers product stitching, seams, holes discovered upon arrival, and irregular deformity. This does not cover staining, fading, slight variances in snap placement, leaks, pilling, holes or tears in fabric or loose stitching that develop due to wash routine or regular use (items caught, torn or melted in the washer/dryer).

This warranty is available only to the original purchaser from the date of purchase.

All warranty is null and void when products containing harsh solvents such as hydrogen peroxide (oxygen bleach), sodium percarbonate or optical brighteners are used.

When washing your covers Mother-ease recommend you wash them in a mesh bag to keep them away from Velcro on your nappies and from getting caught in washing machine doors.  Always secure the Velcro on your wraps so they don't stick to the binding in the wash.
Please contact us if you think you have a faulty product and need to claim under the Mother-ease warranty. We will liaise with Mother-ease for you. Mother-ease will require any product to be returned or destroyed before a replacement.

The manufacturer may ask for proof of which detergent you have been using during the period you've had the item so we strongly recommend you keep your receipts you can prove you've been washing following the supplier's guidelines.  A photo of the detergent box and a photo of the detergent ingredients will be needed plus receipts of detergent purchases in the time you have owned the faulty nappies (usually 1 or 2 receipts showing purchases across the previous 6 months).  If you have bought Mother-ease's detergent through us during the time you've used the nappies please let us know and we'll have all your receipts already on record for you.

Mother-ease decision on any warranty claim is final.

Great nappy system although a bit fiddly
Rating:
27 November 2022  |

We chose these as our main nappies after the nappy lady hire kit at 10 weeks. Our son is now 16 months and overall we are very happy with our choice. The nappies are reliable (poo leaks almost unheard of whether breastfeeding or diarrhoea, wee leaks in the day only if we’ve been lazy and haven’t changed for hours…), slim fitting, quick drying and wash well. The only two issues we’ve had are that even with the night inserts, we found at about 7-8 months these couldn’t last the night - admittedly we didn’t try boosters, he was still quite young so I bit the bullet and bought totsbots bamboozles for night time instead, but the night time inserts we still use in the day as part of our regular rotation. Secondly, they are particularly fiddly as there are six poppers inside the nappy for the insert and six on the outside for fit. When our baby was small and couldn’t roll over in a split second or run off this didn’t matter, but I must admit at this stage I find it rather tiresome and wish we’d gone for all in ones with Velcro sometimes! I think for nursery these are also too fiddly and while they use them I don’t think they like them and often have leaks. So overall I’d say great nappy, just if you buy them as your main set of nappies, carefully consider things like childcare and nighttime nappies first.

Excellent fit

Nappy provided free of charge as part of ambassador role. Views are my own.

Really loving the fit on my average-sized 3 month old. We’re at that awkward stage where newborn nappies have long been outgrown, but not all BTPs fit. These are fitting great with plenty of growing room still.

Bought these for our daughter's first child. The designs are so lovely that she is looking forward to the warmer weather when their baby can just wear a t-shirt top and show off his Mother-ease wraps! So far they have been leak resistant.

Very nappy happy!
Rating:
26 November 2021  |

This nappy was recommended to us by TNL as a complete day and night system and I’m so glad we took the plunge. I have a heavy-wetting, under 2nd percentile, 12.8lb 6 month boy who feeds 1-2 hourly at night. We hired a kit from a local nappy library when he was around 4 months and had a lot of leaks, unless massively boosted, and bulky fits on his tiny legs and waist. I wouldn’t have dared to not boost even a 2 hour day nappy so I was nervous when I tried out the stay dry day insert with no booster. Unbelievably after 4 hours and as the first nappy of the day, there were no leaks. Equally at night - we have hippynut hemp/bamboo boosters and added one to his night nappy. It survived 12 hours and almost hourly feeds! The fit is also really good on him - the day nappies don’t look much bulkier on him than a disposable, so his clothes fit well over the nappy. I was worried about slight leg gaps but they don’t seem to matter. I don’t think these would have worked for him when he was younger, however, as he’s on the tightest waist and there’s no crossover popper. So not BTP in our case but excellent from now on in. Plus my husband confirms their ease of use so it’s encouraging with a view to sending him to nursery in them next year. Only downside is they’re not quite as fast drying in the winter as I’d hoped (a whole day).

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a hard working nappy or have a very slim baby!

I honestly don’t know how it works but it does - they feel gappy and loose but somehow contain all the poosplotions. My kiddo outgrew our xsmall ones but was still swimming in the onesize, so I took a deep breath and invested in some small ones and very glad I did!

Great cover for the duo inserts
Rating:
08 November 2020  |

This is a great cover, really thick PUL and the duo system is simple and easy to use. This is birth to potty, but for really tall or toddlers on the 75th centile or above these may not last past the age of 2 if toilet training hasn't commenced as they aren't very long on the biggest rise. But these go really small for the small end of the scale. These are simple and easy to wash and have some great designs

These are the only nappies I've used so the review may be biased but they cover a variety of sizes and have been using since my little boy was 3 months old (currently 18m). Poo-splosions are a thing of the past and everything is well contained in them. I plan on continuing to use them for my second who is due in December

Best of the two systems
Rating:
17 June 2020  |

I’ve been using Duo system with both, one size and sized covers with bamboo and nighttime inserts. Solid colours have more textile feel to them than prints, but both are great. Nighttime inserts are amazing, very absorbs t and have dry feel to them. My baby (4m, quite large for his age, exclusively breastfed) started sleeping through the night in these nappies (I believe they hold a pint). The system is great for daytime, too: easy to change inserts, I just wipe the cover with a wet wipe, unless it was soiled or became wet around the seams. No leaks, highly recommended.

Brilliant nappy system but I should have gone for one size not small
Rating:
17 April 2020  |

I absolutely love the wizard duo. Never had a leak, never had a rash, and can last 2-3 hours no problem. The block colours are lovely and the system is very easy to use and to wash. I haven't even had any staining (just breastmilk poo so far). My only criticism is that the small size didn't last my baby anywhere near what I was expecting, so proved to be very expensive for the amount of use I have had. Probably only worth it if used for multiple babies. My baby was too small for them at birth (she was just under 6lb), so I couldn't use them at first. Even at 1 month she was still under 8lb (the lower end of the suggested range). She's now a chubby 4 month old and weighs 15lb. I can barely get them done up, so I've had about 2 months of use from them. I should have gone for one-size from the start. To be fair, she tonked on weight pretty rapidly and I do love the nappies anyway. I just want to find some one-size ones so I can continue with them.

The hip fasteners on these allow for a great fit. I love that I can swap different inserts, although because the interior snaps for inserts are so secure, it isn’t easy to do mid-change. During the day, we’ll swap between two wraps instead. My favourite use has been with the Stay Dry Night inserts- we like them so much that they’ve knocked our other night nappies out or nearly out of rotation entirely

Even better than the Wizard Uno
Rating:
15 November 2018  |

Like most of the nappy world I fell in love with Wizard Unos once my daughter was big enough to get a good fit with them. However, with the impending maternity pay drop, I decided to give Duos a whirl as they worked out slightly cheaper in the long run. I am SO glad I did. I get a better fit out of Duos and the snap in insert provides a secondary line of defence against breastfed explosions - not had to change one vest that has fallen victim to an explosion up the back since we started using them. I now use a mixture of Unos and Duos (all in one is slightly easier for grandparents etc).

I will say that it took me a while to get the fit right; these nappies need doing up more tightly than you might be used to.

Does exactly what it claims to!

02 October 2018  |

I got sent a wizard uno wrap instead of a duo which was annoying but TNL sorted it out very quickly and smoothly. It means I did notice the uni cake with instructions on how to use but the duo wrap doesn’t which might have been helpful. Overall it does what it claims with all the many poppers needed for a duo nappy. This system was t for us as it’s too fiddly (see separate review of the duo inner) but the wrap is good quality and the bear print is lovely. I wish motherease did more modern prints like this one rather than the slightly outdated cartoony ones!

Easy to use & lovely to see

14 September 2018  |

My first time using cloth nappies and the mother ease duo system is simply great.

The wraps have gorgeous prints (I have 3 different prints) and very straight forward to use. The inserts nap in and out without a problem. Even after multiple washes the print and texture is the same. Dries super fast.

Living in a hot and humid climate, I was apprehensive about using a plastic based wrap but I cant praise it enough. I've had no leaks so far.

I gave it 4 starts because it does have 2 internal edges that are left without any binding/finishing, which may mean possible fray in future. So far I've had no issues though.

Leaked 😕
Rating:
02 July 2018  |

I was very excited about these after reading the reviews. Unfortunately the fit doesn’t seem to be suitable for my year old but then we’ve never gotten on well with the motherease wraps (either too loose or digging in around the legs).
The first night I added a hemp booster & was sure that we’d have a leak free night but it was one of the worst leaks we’ve had. I’ve tried to perfect the fit using the length poppers but they will just pop open when he moves & then gape at the leg. I’m sure the whole arrangement would be excellent if we could get the fit right & they dry so quickly. Sadly they don’t work well for us though.

Baby slept through the night
Rating:
08 November 2017  |

I'd stalled on using cloth at night, but since I put these wraps+ stay dry night inserts at 12 weeks, baby is sleeping through the night! They are very well made, soft and comfortable for baby and absorbent enough for 12h stretch with an extra booster between nappy and wrap (I use the equivalent of a daytime pocket nappy stuffing, so two little lamb bamboo inserts or one foldable bamboo one, or one small one large milovia polyester, or one Charlie banana insert- they all worked fine).
They come out of the laundry almost dry, and the poppers are secure but don't need to be yanked open, unlike some other brands. A joy to use.

Best Nappies EVER
Rating:
04 July 2016  |

I loved these nappies, pocket nappies didn't work at all with my super-pooper, heavy wetter, but these never failed. When my son got bigger the one size seemed tight but then I realised it worked just fine with only two poppers instead of 3 to fasten - I had some size large too but found one size was fine as well. I always recommend these despite the price. Shame there are not more fun prints. I used the microfibre and I had one cotton insert too but found the cotton only lasted a couple of hours. The xs/sm is a better fit in the early days and I only had one of those unfortunately but would definitely buy more if I had another baby.

Great system
Rating:
28 April 2016  |

I love the Duo system. So easy to use, day care friendly and pretty good value. I love that you just popper it in (no stuffing!!), has full coverage (rather than just a pad) meaning great absorbency and essentially creating a double gusset at the leg. I also like that the wraps are sized - I am really not a fan of one size, I always get leaks at the fold. I will admit that the wraps didn't appear to be as solidly made as, for example, my Blueberry wraps, but I've read nothing but good things, so I am hoping they hold up over time. The prints are not the cutest - maybe Motherease can find something a little prettier. In the mean time, just cover with clothes and who cares!

Excellent product, easy to use, keeps wetness in and is easily washed.

A lovely bright coloured wrap that fits over the duo insert. Elastic around leg is a little tight but I wonder if this will get better with wear.

Too bulky

As a complete newbie to reusables I liked the idea of the Wizard nappies but in reality they didn't work for us. I'll be honest I only tried them twice and never used the night time insert because they were just so bulky on my daughter that it looked like she was wearing a bustle. This may be because I was using the onesize inserts and perhaps this would be less of an issue with the proper fitted size inserts.I was also disappointed that the stay dry insert was not softer.
I am now using fuzzibunz and love them.

Great nappy system

I love this system of cloth nappies consisting of attachable onesize cotton nappy to outer wrap. Easy to use and fast to change. No fuss for mother, no cry for baby. I took off one star just because the outer wraps are sized, I would love it to be one size too.

Ok, not a great fit on a slim baby

I loved the duo stay dry insert, unfortunately the wrap just didn't work so well for us, as my lil ones quite slim, so we just couldn't get a proper fit around her legs. Even with light boosting and tightening the wrap there was always gapping. I do like the fact that the insert clips into place and the wrap has the gussets, would imagine it could possibly suit a chubbier baby better than a lean slim one.
