Trima Nappy Overview

Petite Crown Trima One size is an all-in-one nappy, with an added pocket in the back of the nappy for even more absorbency if you need it. The pocket is formed by a buttery soft bamboo cotton lining that provides an additional layer of absorbency.

Being an all-in-one, the Trima is the most simple of nappies to use.

Natural fibre Trima is very popular with children who have very sensitive skin or live in hot climates and need the most breathable coolest fabrics. Natural fabircs also make the nappy beautifully slim fitting.

The tummy panel or as we call it the "stopper", panel at the front of the nappy helps to give extra leak protection by keeping inside fabric where you want it... INSIDE!

Sizing

The Trima is designed to fit babies from 8-35lbs (3.5-15kgs).

The length of the nappy is altered using rise snaps. It has 3x4 adjustable rise poppers to alter the length to three different sizes as baby grows.

As with all ‘birth to potty’ or ‘one size’ nappies, there is a compromise on fit at the lower end of the weight range so the nappy will be quite bulky initially on a small newborn.

How do I use it?

The Trima fastens with poppers in our favourite horizontal popper position giving you a secure fit and reduced the chance of wing droop.

There is a pocket at the back for adding extra absorbency (not included) for heavy wetters. The wonderful benefit of this pouch is that if you have childcare you can pre stuff into this pocket and it still remains as an all in one for the nursery or childminder.

This nappy can be tumble dried on low but please note this will add additional wear and tear and may decrease the lifespan of your nappies.

The nappy does not have a stay dry insert or lining so you can choose what you'd like - either disposable paper liners or fleece / stay dry liners.

Read our article for more information and photos on how to adjust one size nappies.

Nappy Fabric

Trima comes with two removable snap-on inserts, each made of 1 layer of bamboo cotton fabric and 2 layers of hemp cotton fabric.

The inside is lined with buttery soft bamboo cotton that provides an additional layer of absorbency. The inserts are wonderfully absorbent however they are VERY slow drying as it holds onto the washing water firmly.

Lining - 70% Bamboo, 30% Cotton
Insert - 40% Cotton, 37% Hemp, 23% Bamboo
Outer - TPU Laminate

What else do I need?

Nothing! The nappy comes with everything you need, but you can add fleece or paper liner if you prefer, for ease of cleaning a dirty nappy.

I love the fit of these nappies on my 4 month old daughter who is small for her age we have not had a leak and she is a heavy wetter due to being on medication. they do take longer to dry but for us it's worth the longer drying time

Wanted to love this nappy

I really wanted to love this nappy - the block colours and prints are beautiful and it is really well made.
In theory it should work really well but so far I'm not loving this nappy on my 5 mo girl who is not a heavy wetter.
Like other reviewers I find it impossible to get a good fit on the legs - I've tried different popper combos but gaps remain at the legs. The elastics are very stiff and dont sit against my lo's thighs.
The inserts have been washed multiple times now so I'm confident they are up to absorbency but she can out wee these in 2 hours. If I try to boost any more it makes the issue with the leg fit even worse and makes the nappy very bulky. If I snap the inserts in and she does a poo the poo misses the inserts and ends up on the elastics every.single.time. the first time I used this nappy poo leaked through the stitching on the leg elastics on to her clothes. Ive now changed to stuffing the inserts into the pocket and adding a motherease stay dry liner on the inside but this makes the nappy bulky and there are still gaps at the legs so wee still leaks out within 2 hours. Like another reviewer has said these nappies wash and stain very badly. Poo solids remain in the elastics after washing and the lining and inserts stain. These remain stained through multiple washes and need hand washing with laundry soap before adding to the wash. Compared to my ME Unos these are just too hard. I'm really hoping my lo grows into these as right now I am so disappointed and wish Id bought more Unos even with the hit and miss QC on those.

I love this one in particular, simply because it always fits perfectly and has never leaked. Very absorbent, great quality and beautiful.

I really wanted to love this nappy.

I bought this primarily because the prints are so beautiful! I found them to be just as lovely in the flesh, and the nappy feels very good quality. However, I found it to be extremely stiff and difficult to fit. I struggled with leg leaks but at the same time the fabric would be digging in at the back or sides. I tried this nappy quite a few times before we gave up on my now 7 month old.

A mixed bag

I decided to wait a while before writing this review, as in the past I have been too quick to judge a nappy before giving it a fair chance. However, I have been using this nappy frequently for nearly 3 months now and feel well placed to leave an accurate review:

Firstly, the quality of this nappy is AMAZING. It feels extremely well made and the colours are beautifully rich. It is also really compact on the smallest rise setting, so I think it would be a nice fit on a small baby (although I was using it on a 18mo). Unfortunately, there are also a couple of aspects of this nappy which I did not get on with...

I really struggled to get a good fit, and had frequent leaks around the leg cuffs, despite trying multiple popper combinations. I think the issue is the position of the hip snaps, and I found wing droop a particular problem with this nappy design. I purchased this nappy to try alongside a baba and boo and blueberry simplex, and this is the only one that I have to boost. I consider my LO an average wetter, despite this I have to add an additional LL booster to the trima. Finally, it stains very easily. I use it with a fleece liner, but if the poo misses the liner, this nappy very unforgiving compared to other brands.

Overall I have mixed feelings about this nappy. I wanted to love it, but it fell a little short; however not by enough to make me want to sell it on...

Super absorbent nappy

I have found the Trima to be a super absorbent nappy lasting 3-4 hours even on my very heavy wetter. The two inserts mean one can be folded at the front if needed for extra absorbency in that area. Also the two inserts means it dries relatively quickly for such an absorbent nappy. I also like that the shell itself also adds some absorbency and this seems to help prevent leaks. The nappy is excellent quality and I have already ordered some more.

Super absorbent and fantastic quality!

I currently only use one insert as 2 are not needed at this stage. I gambled on this as l prefer an all in one rather than a snap in but l love their versatility of this nappy. There's a pocket at the back so l am tempted to try it at night just out of interest!

Petite Crown Trima
Rating:
18 May 2020  |

I purchased a Trima and a Packa. Both very good quality, Lovely nappies, however my preference leans towards the Trima.

I like having the 2 inserts (rather than the 1 in the packa) as it makes it easier to customise the placement of absorbency. Also the choice to popper them on or stuff in the pocket is something I like. The lining in the Trima is another absorbent layer of natural material which I love too.

Both the Trima and Packa are easy to fit and have been extremely reliable once I got the inserts up to absorbency. They do take quite a bit of prewashing, but I’ve boosted with a little lambs double until I was happy with the performance.

I’m most certainly adding a few more Trima to my nappy stash.

This is a great, versatile nappy. There are two inserts which are lovely and soft as is the rest of the nappy. It’s very roomy with good coverage and lasts a good 3-4 hours for my 4 month old who is quite a heavy wetter. I will likely buy more in the future.
