Nappy Overview

Bambinex Bamboo reusable nappies are very soft and super absorbent and have been one of our best selling two part systems for approaching 15 years.   Bambinex bamboo nappies have elastic at the waist and legs to give a great fit and excellent containment.  They are a very generous length nappy so especially good for tall children. They also cover a slightly larger weight range than other brands which helps for the chunkier baby.  Bambinex Bamboo have poppers on the body of the nappy to adjust the length so they can be easily made shorter while baby is at the lower end of the weight range, short children will just stay in the shorter length settings longer than tall children.

Bambinex bamboo nappies fasten around the waist with Aplix and also have laundry tabs to ensure the fastening stays clean in the wash.  When you take off the soiled nappy fasten the laundry tabs BEFORE you put the nappy in the nappy bucket as you won't touch the nappy again until it's clean from the washing machine.

Two part nappies give excellent containment due to the elastic in the nappy and the additional elastic in the wrap. Two part nappy systems are the most bottom bomb proof combination making them ideal for those babies with explosive bottoms. The nappy is also fairly slim fitting due to the absorbent properties of the fabric.

Sizing

They come in two sizes.
size 1 8lbs to 20lbs
size 2 20lbs to 44lbs

How do I use it?

Each nappy comes with a booster that pops inside. You detach and remove the booster while baby is at the lower weight range of the nappy and add it back in as they get older and need the full absorbency.  Bambinex Bamboo is also suitable for night times when used with additional high absorbency boosters such as the Ellas House Bum Boosters or Motherease Sandys Boosters.

Bambinex Bamboo are a two part system so need a waterproof wrap over the top. Bambinex make their own economical onesize wraps or if your budget can stretch to them the Motherease Rikki/ Airflow are our favourite and an excellent choice.  When you change baby you will change the inner nappy but reuse the outer cover. Generally you will change 4 inner nappies before you need to change the outer wrap.

Nappy Fabric

Bambinex Bamboo are made of bamboo viscose fabric which is a very absorbent material making it ideal for nappies.  Bamboo is however slow drying so if you have limited drying facilities this might not be the best choice for your main nappy.  If you need quick drying nappies look at the sister nappy the Bambinex Teddy nappy which is made of superfast drying (but manmade) microfibre.

Composition 80% Bamboo - 20% Polyester

Bamboo is a soft and delicate fabric so you should try to air dry as much as possible. If you do need to occassionally tumble dry the nappies then this should be done on low only as the fabric can burn on a hot drying cycle.

Great long nappy for long nights
Rating:
16 February 2024  |

The shape of these fitteds really suits longer/taller children, or, in our case, very slight/lean children. We used size 2s once our other brands of BTP fitteds were outgrown. They would still fit now at 4yo if we hadn't moved over to a pull-up! The only downside for us is that the edging fabric on the front of the nappy and all around the insert looks much more worn than the nappy itself, but they have had really good innings and still in working order for the next child!

Perfect long leg holes for my long baby! Velcro is slightly bulky but no worse than other nappies I’ve tried, just an area for improvement. One of my favourites for fit.

They work really well for overnight but have recently had to add a booster because my son started sleeping on his tummy and was having leaks. But these nappies are great if you have a tall child. I also use TotsBots nappies overnight but Bambinex is far superior in softest, quality of the Velcro straps and length.

Normally use terries at night nowadays after my 2 year old outgrew her bamboozles size 2 and then a set of bumhuggers as well. However, my husband has never been confident with terries so thought I’d try this, along with a bambeasy popper. I think the bambinex does the job really well. Really generous length and easy to adjust on a slim waist due to the Velcro. Absorbency is absolutely fine for us. I boosted with a hemp bum booster in addition to the attached booster that comes with it, but don’t think I really needed it. No leaks and looks and feels so soft on my little one.

This fitted nappy remains soft, it has a great length and absorbency. Not bulky at all, I am using it with just its own popped in insert during the day and a hemp + another bamboo booster at night for my 11-month old. It washes really well and again it does not even need vest extenders. Yes the velcro tabs are not as strong as a Tots Bots bamboozle, but they still work fine and at the end of the day, there is the wrap around! They seem fine to me anyway and being long they get a really nice fit around the baby waist. I use a Little Lamb wrap or an airflow with it. I wish I had known about this one before spending money on pocket BTP ones, which ended up leaking all the time. I highly recommend the Bambinex!!

I was recommended these after filling in the nappy quiz but I really don’t like them. The small size my baby grew out of at 8 weeks despite them apparently being suitable for up to 20lb which I feel is wrong. They dig into my babies legs and leave red marks and they are so bulky she can’t even roll over in them! We have other brands which are much better and give far better mobility so sadly I won’t be using these despite having bought quite a few pairs. Disappointed.

Bambinex size 1s were the first cloth nappies I bought as a result of the NL questionnaire so I was delighted when these size 2s werre put on special offer. Bombproof and incredibly absorbent, I love them. The laundry tab velcro could be a tad stickier but in the general scheme of things, this doesn't detract from how great these nappies are.

Dual nappy heaven!

06 April 2021  |

Love the fact this can be used day and night. He has never wet through! Nappy is still slim enough to not need extenders. I was apprehensive about drying time but fear not. Half a day outside then an hour on the drying rack inside is all we’ve needed & it’s only March! So I suspect to drop drying time significantly during summer months.

Absorbent but sizing inaccurate
Rating:
12 March 2021  |

Bought size 1 as I have a small baby but the waist tabs are woefully short and my 4 month old is too big for it. Disappointed with the weight recommendations as they are far too generous. The night time absorbency is great however. Will be sourcing Velcro extenders to prolong life as I don’t have the funds to replace.

Quite good nappy
Rating:
22 February 2021  |

I chose this nappy myself for my slim & tall baby & it fits very well.
The insert that can be popped in & out is very useful & practical.
Because the insert is not full length; it actually means less wet material which is no luxury with reusable nappies. Much more practical!

I find this nappy washes really well compared to other types. Stains go off better somehow.
Drying time is long but if you dry near radiator or under the sun, it dries within a few hours.
Great containment & good absorbency.

Outgrown!
Rating:
01 January 2021  |

I loved this nappy for night time use (excellent containment and a good fit). However, unfortunately my daughter outgrew size 1 of these nappies really early - before 4 months. She's 5 months now and still under 17lbs and so, according to the sizing, these should fit until she's about 20lbs. The issue seems to be with the tabs, which are not long enough. Nappy is also not deep enough. I'm wondering if this is because she's long in the body. I will read reviews from users of the larger size too. Inexpensive nappies though!

Very good night nappy
Rating:
24 November 2020  |

It is a really absorbent night nappy, not absolutely sure, but I have the feeling that it absorbs more than the Bamboozle and definitely more than the Little lamb bamboo. I would like to get more of these, only disadvantage are the laundry tabs - they do not hold strong enough, so you really need to put the nappies separately in a mesh.

New favourite nappy but agree about the velcro
Rating:
15 September 2020  |

These is my new favourite nappy, having decided that my baby was going to be too tall for the also-brilliant Little Lambs after she outgrew their size 1 before she was 3 months. I also have Terry Squares (great) and various all-in-ones (varying). I use these with a Motherease Airflow wrap and they combine top containment, neat looks (and cute with the wrap) and low-to-medium faff (very easy to get on, just a two-part system so a bit more than an all-in-one). I use them night and day and have found them comfortably good for 12hrs overnight. If I were starting again with what I know now, I would have more shaped nappies and fewer all-in-ones, as the containment is so much better. My 75th centile (weight) and tall 9mo baby girl is on the middle rise poppers and has plenty of room for expansion in all directions. I have found drying times for shaped bamboo nappies to vary between an afternoon outdoors on the line on a great drying day to 18-30hrs on a heated airer indoors and 2 days on an ordinary airer on a cold day. I agree with other reviewers that the laundry tabs on these come undone. They damaged the binding on one of my wraps, which I now know to wash in a net bag, or indeed just with the ordinary laundry since they don’t get in the same state as the nappy itself.

Great nappy
Rating:
14 September 2020  |

We use these nappies mostly during the night and are very happy with them. They are soft and look comfy and fit well on our long lean baby and the absorbancy is very good. Only problem (as many have said) is the slow drying time. On the advice of TNL we got half and half bamboos and teddies and we just use the bamboos at night - mostly we can manage on one nappy per night, so there's loads of time for them to dry in between. We're very happy with this system.

This is a lovely nappy! Of course it takes an age to dry but it fits like a dream on my tall 11 month old and with a booster lasts a very long while. Most other two part nappies look like he’ll outgrow them in a few months but this one looks to last.

I'm really impressed with these nappies, they work as well as tots bots Bamboozle and are much cheaper. I was looking for a replacement fitted nappy after my boys grew out of their size 2 Bamboozles, so tried these. They are quite slim, but that works well for me as my twins are slim and lean for their age. I use them as night nappies for my three and a half year old twins with my peenut boosters, and they perform very well. They dry very quickly, so easy to wash. Would highly recommend

Really pleased with these nappies and wish I had found them before on our cloth nappy journey. We have not had a single leak (we do use a booster for naps and nighttime) and they are very soft and easy to put on. No issues with fastenings. They do take a long time to dry so we use them we have quite a few and use them alongside our pocket nappies.
The Nappy Lady sent these out really promptly despite being very busy and the communication regarding this was excellent. Great service and helped us move completely over to a cloth nappy system so thank you!

Bambinex bamboo
Rating:
03 May 2020  |

Size 1 used overnight from newborn with a little lamb or blueberry wrap. These are great, never had a leak even when left 12 hours. They also dry pretty quickly for bamboo (24 hours on a ceiling airer). I also have little lamb bamboo, performance wise I've found them to be pretty similar, although the bambinex are longer so may be better for a tall baby.

I love these nappies, I love the price, great absorbency, they keep their softness in the wash, they’re slim. The only thing holding me back is the drying time, at least 2 days. So I’m afraid I can’t use these as my main nappies. Very happy with the ones I have though.

Great for bigger toddlers
Rating:
07 February 2020  |

Bambinex size 2 are about comparable in size with the tots bots bamboozle in size 3, but much more affordable. I can’t comment on night time as I use during the day but they fit great on my toddler (36lbs tall, average build. Outgrown most btp). We are only using them on the middle rise setting as well so will last awhile. They are a nice slim fit underneath size 3 Thirsties Duo covers and I don’t need any additional boosters to last 4 (or more for car trips) hours.
Haven’t had long enough to comment on their durability but happy with them so far.

Best nappies ever!
Rating:
24 December 2019  |

After trying out MANY different brands, these are the absolute winners.
They are soft, even after over a year of use, slim, super absorbent and perfect fit for our tall baby. The velcro is still strong and just now, as our boy reaches two years, we have changed to the highest setting. Compared to totsbots where we had to do that at six months!
I compared ansorbency to hemp night time nappies (Ella's House bumhuggers) and Bambinex outperformed them by FAR.
Imo they're the best nappies on the market, I wouldn't buy any others.

Lovely fit, shame about the Velcro
Rating:
21 August 2019  |

This nappy is a beautiful fit on my baby. Stretchy and soft. Generous sizing. Absorbent. But.... the Velcro is almost a deal breaker. The Velcro doesn’t stay down in the wash and I’ve had to start washing this nappy in a laundry bag so it doesn’t ruin other nappies and wraps. Such a shame as the nappy is far more comfortable looking than the bamboozles I normally use.

These nappies are super absorbent, they last our 8month old a good 7/8 hours and I'm sure they'd go longer if needed. They are really soft and well fitting, I like the velcro, makes it easier to get a good fit on a baby with really chunky legs. They seem to take 24 hours to dry inside, I have 6 so haven't needed to try to dry them quicker.

Useful night nappies, but otherwise disappointing
Rating:
27 July 2019  |

There are things I like and dislike about these nappies.

Good points:
1) They are both absorbent and slender, which means that you can add extra padding for an effective night nappy without making them too bulky
2) The poppers which make them adjustable by height, meaning you get a better fit height-wise
3) The removable booster that comes with the nappy helps it to dry quicker. This still isn't a quick drying nappy, but they do pretty well considering they are bamboo (they actually dry faster than my Motherease Sandys cotton nappy).

Things I dislike about these nappies:
1) The quality of the velcro makes the laundry tabs ineffective. The material that the velcro hooks attach to bobbled fairly quickly, meaning it doesn't matter how many times I extract fluff from the velcro hooks, they still don't stay attached in the wash. It could be that I've done something wrong in terms of washing to make the material bobble, but whatever it is has not affected the velcro on my Little Lamb nappies, which are performing very well.
2) The elastic doesn't seem 'clingy' enough. My daughter has quite slender legs that just don't seem to fill out the nappy. As the elastic does not cling to her legs, this means they leak far more often than my other shaped nappies. This might not be an issue if she were a chunkier baby, but I couldn't say for sure. They are still fine as a night-time nappy since my daughter reached the stage where she no longer poos at night, but as a daytime nappy they are disappointing.

Bought these after they were recommended to me by the nappy lady for my very tall and pretty chunky baby. Started using at 4 months, before he'd reached the weight minimum, but they already fitted well (size 2).
I haven't had a single leak of wee or poo since we started using them, which compares very favourably to both disposables and other types of reusable nappy. I think I have heavy wetters as no other nappies have held the wee - these even work overnight which I'm delighted about! I wish I'd used them with my older children.

12 April 2019  |

I was recommended these by the Nappy Lady's questionnaire (my daughter is 99th centile for weight and height and containment was a big deal for me). We use under a Motherease wrap.

These last very well (haven't tried overnight yet), and we've never had a leak. They proved their awesomeness to my husband on a particular day when the baby started in a disposable - hadn't go my full stash then - and managed a proper outfit-ruining poo that went everywhere. Later that day, she produced another horror show that my husband changed, but because she was in the reusable at this point, all was perfectly contained. Husband now totally on board resuable nappies!

These work very like the Totsbots stretchy ones, but are bigger, so great for enormous babies like mine. We went straight to the size 2 at 3.5months when she was about 18lbs, and we still didn't need the smallest setting. Downside is that they take a while to dry, so you need quite a few but I am happy to do this. as they work so well.

The service from the Nappy Lady was also excellent - have been recommending to my friends.

I'm gutted with these! They are the best nappy for fit and absorbency but the quality is just so rubbish that they're not even going to last my son until potty training, let alone for use by baby number 2.

Ive had these for just one year, washed as per instructions and only rarely put in drier on low. The velcro went within weeks and all the binding along the edges has disintegrated to shreds. A real shame as they are great in terms of performance.

They fit comfortably and haven't leaked up the back like disposables did, we've had a small leak at the leg hole but absolutely tiny compared to disposables (didn't even change clothes as the wrap caught what escaped.)
