Disana Shampoo Overview

Disana Wool Shampoo is a mild wool shampoo and matches to the very specific demands of natural wool. Disana wool shampoo preserves the sensitive wool fibres and minimises the risk of a possible felting by washing.

Panama bark extract acts as natural foam former and improves the cleaning power even with cold hand or machine washing. As a concentrate, it can be used very sparingly and is sufficient for many wool and silk washes.

Its pH value of the Disana Shampoo is adjusted to wool, which is slightly acidic. This makes disana wool shampoo especially suitable for the gentle washing of high-quality wool and silk, e.g. angora, cashmere ormedically tanned lambskin

Why do I need special wool shampoo?

The chemical structure of wool is very similar to human hair so just like with hair washing you should only use gentle cleaning products. Wool is especially sensitive to soap (alkalines). The structure of its fibres makes wool especially sensitive to heat, friction and strong chemicals, so care needs to be taken when washing woollen products.

Wool naturally repels dirt and neutralises odours and liquids. Due to these natural properties of wool, woollen items only need to be washed occassionally and are just aired inbetween washes.

Disana Wool Shampoo Bottle Size

Disana Shampoo is sold in 200ml bottles

Machine Washing Instructions

It is very important that you do not wash wool items too warm otherwise, wool suffers a "temperature shock" and pulls together quickly causing felting.

  • 15 ml per wash(1/2 capful).
  • Only wash woollens in the machine on a cold wool wash;
  • set temperature to “cold”(25°C);
  • do not spin;
  • do not leave in the suds.

Hand Washing Instructions

It is very important that you do not wash wool items too warm otherwise, wool suffers a "temperature shock" and pulls together quickly causing felting.

  • 5 ml per 4 litres of water into a hand basin.
  • Use lukewarm water (25°C) - check with a baby bath thermometer
  • Do not rub or scrape at woollens
  • Simply push the item down into the cleansing mixture several times to wash through
  • Only place woollens briefly in the water - the shorter the washing process the better for the product.
  • Rinse out with clear water after washing with lukewarm water (25°C)

Drying Instructions

Do not dry in the sun, on a radiator or a tumble dryer.

Instead lay your wool item on a dry terry towel and let it dry in a well ventilated room.

It’s easy enough to use, but takes a lot of shaking to mix it up.

My Disana covers are doing very well, a few months in. This shampoo will last ages as only using a little bit each time, and only needing to wash the wool cover about once a month.
