Tots Bots Bamboozle Nappy Overview

Tots Bots Bamboozle is the best selling fitted nappy in the UK and has been for over two decades. Used on all three of The Nappy Lady's babies and all the team's babies too! The easy-to-use design ensures day and night-time changes are fuss free.

The bamboozle reusable nappy is a soft, slim fitting, absorbent and bombproof nappy that fits beautifully even on tiny newborn babies without compromising on performance. Bamboozle Stretch has extra stretchiness in comparison to other reusable nappies. The Super stretchy waist tabs and adjustable poppers in the rise will give the best fit for slim babies but also chunky monkeys. The hook and loop fastening is ultra simple to use and ensures you can get the perfect fit no matter babies size.

The Bamboozle nappy won Best Reusable Nappy in the Mother & Baby Awards for 5 years in a row say goodbye to disposable nappies and hello to a greener and friendlier choice with this amazing award winning nappy.

Sizing

The Bamboozle Fitted reusable nappy comes in three sizes:

  • Newborn 5-18lbs

Is perfect for use from birth. Newborn Bamboozles offer excellent absorbency and containment and are far slimmer than using the onesize. If you're planning on using the nappies on more than one child it is worth considering buying the newborn size as this spreads the wear and allows for two babies in nappies at the same time; your older child will be in the One Size while your newborn baby is back in your newborn Bamboozles.

  • One Size 9-35lbs

It is ideal for use from early on but not quite from newborn (unless baby is very large at birth). With the One Size Bamboozle reusable nappies you remove the booster to make it slimmer and use the poppers to reduce the length of the nappy. Be aware there is always a compromise on fit with any one size reusable nappy system. One size reusable nappies will be bulkier and much wider in the lower weight range than the newborn Bamboozle nappy, however it will still work perfectly and the bulk will seem less as baby grows.

  • XL 35lbs+

XL is designed for the chunky monkey babies or later potty trainers.   XL when poppered down into the smallest setting is the same size as the One Size on it's maximum size setting.  Due to this adjustment it can often be used from 25lbs, but would be bulkier on a baby of this weight than the one size would be.

How do I use it?

Tots Bots Bamboozle nappies fastens with Aplix (Velcro) and the tabs can be crossed over to fit slimmer babies. One the newborn size there are one row of length adapter poppers so that the nappy can be shortened for a newborn until they grow and need the full length.

On the One Size nappy there are two rows of length adapter poppers so you can use it (almost) birth to potty. This gives you great flexibility on fit with small, medium and standard length fittings. XL also has 2 rows of poppers and when poppered down into its smallest setting it's the equivalent of One Size in its longest setting.

Nappy Fabric

Tots Bots Bamboozle Nappy is fully Oekotex Certified.  Your Guarantee there are no harmful chemicals in the nappies.

Bamboozles are made from circular knitted bamboo Rayon with a hidden microfibre core.

The Bamboozle's knitted bamboo Rayon fabric stays soft longer than the traditional bamboo terry. The nappy is great for babies with sensitive skin and for customers who live in hard water areas. Bamboo and the microfibre core are both antibacterial fabrics.

Bamboo generally takes a long time to dry but with the super fast drying microfibre core, this nappy dries on an airer in approx 18 hours in a warm environment. It can also be tumble dried but this must be on low/cool. The nappy comes with a detachable bamboo booster to speed drying. The booster can also be removed to make the nappy slimmer while in the smaller length settings.

Washing Tots Bots Nappies

As with all Tots Bots reusable nappies

  • Wash at 40/60degrees,
  • Cool setting tumble dry only,
  • No bleach, fabric softener, sodium bicarb, vinegar or harsh stain removers should be used.

More information can be found on the washing of all cloth nappies in our Nappy Advice section - using and washing cloth nappies.

What else do I need?

Totsbots Bamboozle nappies are suitable for day and night time but at night time will need additional boosters to provide extra absorbency for the longer wear time. Mother-ease staydry boosters are perfect as they offer absorbency plus overnight dryness though the staydry topping on the booster. If you prefer to use disposable nappy liners then choose the hemp bum boosters instead.

You will also need to use a liner either paper disposable liner or reusable fleece nappy liners inside the nappy and an outer waterproof wrap over the top. The Tots Bots wrap pairs beautifully with the Bamboozle nappy or for unbeatable performance the Motherease Airflow is also a perfect fit.

Care & Warranty

Tots Bots Care Guide

  • Prewash nappy twice before first use. Nappy will reach full absorbency after approximately 10 washes.
  • Wash dark colours separately
  • Wash with non-bio powder or TotsBots Potion
  • No harsh stain removers or bleach. They may cause irritation and can damage the waterproof membrane
  • Don't use pastes of nappy powder directly applied to nappies as this is too concentrated.
  • No fabric softeners. They will reduce absorbency.
  • Max wash temperature 60 degrees.
  • Ideally line dry or tumble dry on cool.
  • If using a nappy cream always use a nappy liner - ideally a disposable paper liner.

Tots Bots Warranty

Tots Bots offers a 1 year guarantee against manufacturing faults. The 1 year guarantee starts from when the item was purchased, not first used. If you believe you have an item with a manufacturing fault, you will need to contact us with details and photos of the fault. We will confirm your purchase date from our records. TotsBots may require the items to be inspected before a warranty decision is made, we will inform you if this is required in your case.  TotsBots warranty decision is final.

Tots Bots Warranty is VOID when:

  • Using harsh stain removers, biological detergents or bleaching
  • Boil washing
  • Continually tumble drying on a warm or hot heat, or directly on radiators or similar
  • Adding vinegar or sodium bicarbonate to the wash

Excessive laundering can destroy elastic, destroy the water repellency, make the fabric go bald, reduce the performance of your nappies, drastically reduce the lifespan and will render your guarantee void.

The use of Tots Bots Potion detergent is recommended but not required for warranty coverage.

Tots Bots' decision on any warranty claim is final.

Very effective but not durable
Rating:
26 April 2024  |

We used these as night nappies for 2.5 years with my eldest. They were great in terms of absorbency and fit, but by the time my younger child was ready for them they had lost a lot of absorbency and had to be downgraded to daytime nappies. The velcro was also gone and I had to replace it with poppers (to be fair, I would now only ever buy nappies or wraps with poppers) and within six months of use, the elastic round the legs is gone, and the fabric is threadbare around the edges and in the middle of each booster. All 8 that I have are the same, it's not just one or two that got used more than the others!
Given that they were mostly used as a night nappy for my eldest, so they rarely got pooed on, and we had twice as many as we really needed (so they got washed half as often as the rest of my stash), I would have hoped for better durability. In short, go for them if you're OK with velcro, but don't expect to use them for more than one child!

Good absorption but feels wet on the skin
Rating:
28 March 2024  |

I bought this for overnight use and although it holds a lot of wee- it becomes sodden to touch so doesn’t have the same feel on the skin as a fleece nappy or disposable which wick away the moisture and the skin of the bottom is then touching urine the whole time and wet to touch when changed

Response:

Yes the Bamboozle does not have a built in staydry layer so that you have the option to choose your own preference. All the fleece liners and staydry liner options we sell fit into the bamboozle. If you prefer a disposable paper liner the Ultra liners are an excellent choice.

Good Fit & Absorbency
Rating:
26 September 2022  |

These nappies were recommended based on my questionnaire answers (plus a motherease wrap) for day and night, but given the expense of them - because they’re sized rather than birth to potty - I chose the alternative to use them only for nighttime. I wish I’d gone with the first recommendation though because they’re so much better than the others I bought! I use two boosters at night and with a heavy wetter I don’t have to change him all night now and we don’t have any leaks so I highly recommend these

Takes longer to dry than the Bumble and poo is a little harder to remove as the trim is very fine. I bought these as they were praised for excellent containment at night but Bumble are just as good and easier to clean and dry.

Great nappy
Rating:
31 May 2022  |

I'm quite new to all this and this nappy is working so well as a night nappy for my 6 month old. I tried one and bought 4 more along with the matching wraps in the same colour so that Dad can easily know which ones are the 'Night Nappies' as he does bath time. I've not had any poops in these nappies yet but I thought the yellow might hide stains. Yellow is also just a lovely unisex colour. These feel really well made. I love that they are made in the UK. They feel like a good investment. I think I only had one leak and then used a Little Lamb booster and it has been fine since.

Cosy shaped nappy
Rating:
23 March 2022  |

This nappy is a snug fit. Washes well but takes a long time to dry. Retains softness well after careful washing/drying. Containment is okay.

4/5 stars as this nappy isn't as absorbent as we hoped a shaped nappy would be. We use Little Lambs as our main daytime ' go to' and find this nappy holds less than expected, despite being similar to more bulky in size.

I've loved bamboozles since my first daughter was a baby and now I'm using them on my 6 week old too. They're just a good solid nappy for nighttimes, that fit under most wraps (my favourite to use it with a tiny baby is a motherease Rikki).

Perfect Recommendation
Rating:
02 December 2021  |

Thank you 'The Nappy Lady' for pointing us in the direction of these nappies - you're absolutely right. Hours and hours of research took me round in circles - your questionnaire took me to the right answer straight away.

They work for us as a daytime nappy. They're not too bulky for the day unlike the Little Lamb equivalent. Although, they probably are a bit chunkier than some pocket and all-in-one nappy styles. I think the amount of absorption makes up for its relative chunkiness. I love the stretch that means the fit around the legs without leaks. We've used this nappy with the Little Lamb wraps, which seems to work well and be comfortable.

They wash and dry well. Two day old poo stains are removed by a long cycle at 40 or 60. They drive pretty quickly too, especially of placed on an airer next to a radiator.

My little one has had some very mild nappy rash after wearing them without a liner, so I'd say get some fleecy liners the wick away the damp. Thank you for getting us on the right track with our cloth nappy journey!

Highly absorbent, but slow drying
Rating:
15 November 2021  |

We are really pleased with the effectiveness of these nappies, but starting using them in November, in a cold house we've just moved to and haven't got around to putting up a washing line, means they are very slow drying. Our daughter already usually sleeps through the night, and still feels fairly dry in the morning, despite sometimes sleeping for almost 10 hours! The nappies are taking longer to dry though, and can still be slightly damp around the elastic after 48 hours!
They fit really nicely, and aren't as bulky as the microfibre day nappies. I'd use them all the time if they dried quicker!

These are great nappies for nights. They are super soft and comfy for the baby and can really hold in a night's worth of wee. I'm only knocking a star off because they take ages to dry so you'll need to buy extras while you have them drying.

The BEST night nappy!
Rating:
10 November 2021  |

I was very slow to buying these, even if they were recommended to me, and I’m SO glad we went ahead with them. They are fantastic! Our daughter is a big wetter at night time and was leaking through every night, even with disposables! When finally enough was enough, and I couldn’t cope with doing a full outfit change at 3am and invested in buying these nappies, and I can honestly say they have been amazing. Not one single leak and can go 12 hours comfortably. Super absorbent, easy to put on with the Velcro, as well as just being a nice comfortable nappy for my daughter to wear. I would highly recommend to anyone considering them, and I totally wish I’d be these sooner!

Splendid product

28 October 2021  |

We bought one to trial for our granddaughter aged 9 months, whose regular washable nappies no longer coped with heavy wetting ever since she started to sleep through the night. Research via The Nappy Lady website led us to choose the Tots Bots Bamboozle nappy. It’s been a great success. It has its own matching popper in liner pad, which detaches for laundering. At last we have found a product that keeps baby dry and cuts down on washing. We have ordered a week’s supply. You need to allow two days to get this thicker night nappy dry, on a line or rack.. They are expensive, but worth it.

Bought a couple of these to try as the pocket nappies are now always leaking. They are really good both for day and night time. They seem less bulky than other brands too, especially because they won't really need additional boosting. I leave them on for 3 to 4 hours with a fleece liner and baby is happy. No incidents ever. I wish I had tried them before! The velcro seems really strong too and they remain soft even after washing a few times. Will buy more!

I've used these nappies for a few weeks now. They are comfy for my baby, do not leak and are made of environmentally friendly material. The only downside I have discovered is that they are a bit slow to dry. So I need to be mindful about doing the laundry on time. But apart from that, very satisfied.

Excellent absorbent nappy
Rating:
28 September 2021  |

Bought these after they were recommended by TNL and have loved them - we've just bought the next size up as we love them so much. We used them from newborn and they were slightly bulky at first but not an issue for baby and they've felt much slimmer as my baby has grown. Really easy to use and get a great fit even for complete nappy changing novices. Extremely absorbent. Never had a leak apart from nights when baby has slept 7-8 hours and we didn't change before the big morning wee. We use with a fleece liner (littlw Lamb or Bear Bott) to keep baby's skin dry. We've used the Tots Bots wraps which are OK but prefer Thirsties Duo Wraps or Motherease Airflows for best fit. They wash well, stay nice and soft and I don't find they take too long to dry on an airer indoors - maybe 24 hours. They're quick to pop in the dryer if needed too. Highly recommended.

It's amazing for absorption but takes sooooo long to dry. Also, I wouldn't use next to baby's skin as it remains so damp to touch. We wrap around a disposable at night to stop leaks and it's amazing for that as it has coverage all around, not just in a pad at the front

My favourite print in Tots Bots Stretch
Rating:

This print it gorgeous! The nappy itself is easy to use, includes a detachable booster (I also add a LL double thickness booster for night) and dries quicker than standard bamboo nappies. Baby is so comfortable in it! The Velcro used is really high quality so fits securely and no issues with snagging when using laundry tabs.

Bought the Hedgehug tots bots bamboozle stretch for my 2 part night time nappy system on the basis of reading great reviews. I was not disappointed! Print is much better in real life, nappy very easy to use and we have no leaks overnight despite 10 hour sleeps (I add a LL double thickness booster with Motherease airflow wrap). I did toy with the idea of using nippa nappies initially as I was worried about longevity of Velcro and snagging issues in the wash but the Tots Bots laundry tabs are so secure and stick so tightly that I’m glad I went fo these in the end. They obviously use high quality Velcro.

This is our go to as a night nappy for a great fit and trouble free night. Love this one. Fits great on my long and thin 14 month old. Will be good until potty training most likely and would fit on a much smaller baby. Very absorbant and feels like it would be comfortable for baby, certainly more so than other nappies of the same type that we have tried. I use this with a bamboo insert and a microfibre liner for comfort. Like the colourful designs, they help with rotating nappies to spread wear on out collection.

I use these on my 3 month old boy and 26 month old girl and no leaks so far. they hold a full 12 hour night's worth of wee for both children, and along with either bamboozle wraps or little lamb wraps i have had no problems whatsoever. size wise, I am not sure they will last until potty training for my boy as we already use it on full size, but for now it is working and we will worry about the rest later! Drying time is quite long unless you put it in the tumble dryer but I don't like to do that too often. So I need to invest in another 2 to get through the washing and drying cycle (we currently have 6).

Great fit for long baby
Rating:
25 May 2021  |

This is one of my favourite fitted nappies: the fit is really snug around the legs, and the front part extends further to the sides than some others which means the smaller size lasts longer before it has to be retired because the rough side of the Velcro would be against the skin (like the bambinex, which our long slim baby grew out of the size one around 3.5months, but size one of this still fits at nearly 5 months, as well as size two on the adjusted rise). Also, the Velcro is great - they really stay stuck on the laundry tabs in the wash, whereas I find on others at least one seems to come open in the wash and comes out with a reusable wipe or liner stuck to it! They do take a long time to dry if hung inside (2days), especially if you have the rise adjusted (I’m too lazy to undo and redo it for quicker drying!), but that makes sense since they are super absorbent. I also like that the booster poppers in, as you can just leave it attached while it dries so it makes stacking/prepping clean nappies a bit quicker when you just have to put a liner in and it’s done.

Favourite nappy
Rating:
16 February 2021  |

I turned to these to try and get baby as far through the night with minimal changes. He wees A LOT and I was having to use disposables but then they kept leaking. These came to the rescue, they are such a lovely easy to use nappy. The bamboo makes them more absorbent and the stretchy-ness makes them a great fit. The other reusables I use become quite tight as they get wetter, but the stretch on these mitigates that problem. They are slower drying but not so much it’s an inconvenience. They’re well priced as well. The peenut wraps and patterns are gorgeous.
